Suntory, one of Japan’s leading beverage companies, has announced the release of a limited edition of their “Suntory Plum Wine (Yamazaki Distillery Storage) EXTRA BLEND” all over Japan on May 16th, 2023. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Suntory’s innovative plum wine-making, which leverages the knowledge and techniques gained from their experience in producing Western-style liquor.
Suntory has developed a range of richly flavored plum wines, utilizing their expertise and techniques in Western-style liquor-making. Their Yamazaki Distillery Aged Plum Wine series, aged in barrels used for whiskey maturation at the Yamazaki Distillery, where Suntory whiskey originated, has been highly acclaimed for its fragrant barrel-derived fragrant aroma and deep richness.
To commemorate Suntory’s 60th anniversary of plum wine-making, the company is releasing a limited edition “Suntory Plum Wine (Yamazaki Distillery Storage) EXTRA BLEND” from the series.
The contents of this limited edition wine are a mellow plum wine that has been aged for five years in barrels used for whiskey maturation at the Yamazaki Distillery. In addition, malt whiskey aged for an extended period in the barrels used to store the plum wine is blended to enhance the flavor further and create a long-lasting aftertaste. Enjoy the fragrant aroma and soft, rich flavor created by Suntory’s maturation and blending techniques.
The package is designed to represent the flavor achieved through aging, with a rounded shape bottle. In addition, the decorative box features the painting “Seisei Ruten” by Yokoyama Taikan, a Japanese-style painter who incorporates Western techniques.
