New Delivery Stations and Same-Day Facilities

Amazon will launch six new DS locations and 16 additional facilities that combine the roles of fulfillment centers (FC) and DS to support same-day delivery. These new hubs will streamline operations, handling everything from receiving and storing goods to packing, sorting, and shipping. By 2025, Amazon will also expand its overnight delivery service, allowing customers to order at night and receive their items the next morning.

Here are the six new delivery stations and their opening months:

Okayama Minami Delivery Station (Okayama Prefecture): April

Chiba Kashiwa Delivery Station (Chiba Prefecture): April

Fukuoka Kitakyushu Delivery Station (Fukuoka Prefecture): May

Hokkaido Kitahiroshima Delivery Station (Hokkaido): August

Tokyo Koto 2 Delivery Station (Tokyo): September

Ishikawa Nonoichi Delivery Station (Ishikawa Prefecture): September

Fun fact: The Ishikawa Nonoichi DS will be the first of its kind in Ishikawa Prefecture! Delivery stations act as the starting point for Amazon’s last-mile delivery, gathering orders from FCs nationwide to get them to your doorstep.

Eco-Friendly Tech at Okayama

The Okayama Minami Delivery Station is going green! It’ll feature cutting-edge technologies to cut greenhouse gas emissions, including:

  Solar panels for renewable energy

  High windows for natural lighting

  Motion-sensor lights to save energy

EV charging stations for electric delivery vehicles

  Insulated walls for better efficiency

Rainwater recycling tanks to reduce water use

These upgrades highlight Amazon’s push for sustainability while keeping deliveries fast and reliable.

Same-Day Delivery Gets a Boost

In 2025, Amazon will open 16 new same-day delivery hubs that handle tens of thousands of items daily. These facilities will simplify the process from intake to shipping, making same-day delivery seamless. Meanwhile, Amazon is enhancing its same-day stores with “Expressmart”, currently available in the Kanto region. This service delivers thousands of items in as little as six hours, perfect for grabbing daily essentials on the fly.

Next-Day Delivery Expansion

Amazon’s next-day delivery is getting a major upgrade too. By 2025, orders placed by 11:59 PM will arrive the next day across Japan. In some areas, you can even order by 1 PM and get your items that same evening. Speedy delivery is about to become the norm!

High-Tech Delivery Stations

Amazon is bringing innovative tech to its delivery stations in Japan. Here’s a peek at what’s new:

Auto Divert to Aisle (ADTA): Delivers packages to workers at ergonomic heights—already in use in Japan.

Single Lane Auto Divert to Finger: Automatically sorts packages on conveyor belts, cutting out manual handling.

Robotics Labeler System (RLS): Automates labeling to speed up sorting.

Robotics Unloader for Unwieldy Shipments (RUFUS): Handles heavy items with ease.

Matrix: A system in testing (Japan and Europe) that optimizes package routing, reducing manual work and boosting efficiency.

These advancements promise faster, safer, and more efficient deliveries for everyone.
