Suntory will launch a limited edition of “Suntory Premium Highball (Hakushu) 350ml Can” starting on June 6 nationwide. The year 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the founder of Suntory, Shinjiro Torii, who first started making whiskey in the land of Yamazaki.
To celebrate the occasion and to show appreciation to the supporters of whiskey, Suntory has decided to launch the “Suntory Premium Highball Can.”
The can is made of carefully selected Hakushu malt whiskey with a smooth, smoky aroma and a fruity flavor. It is blended to be enjoyed with ice in a glass.
The packaging features a green-based design with a full view of the Hakushu Distillery surrounded by forest, with the word “Hakushu” written prominently to express a sense of authenticity. The package also features the words “Fragrant Smoky” to communicate the product’s unique characteristics.
The Hakushu Distillery (Plant Manager: Tetsuya Arita) is a whiskey production base for Suntory, completed in 1973, surrounded by vast natural scenery at the foot of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Southern Alps.
It produces a whiskey with a unique personality different from that of the first malt distillery in Japan, the Yamazaki Distillery, due to differences in natural conditions such as water and climate, as well as in facilities such as fermentation tanks and stills.
