The World Cosplay Summit Executive Committee will hold the “World Cosplay Summit 2023”, the world’s largest cosplay festival, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, from August 4th (Fri) to 6th (Sun), 2023.
The logo design features a motif of the phoenix, symbolizing revival.
This year’s theme is “The World’s Largest Cosplay Festival, Fully Revived!!” as they aim to return to the state before the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Cosplay Summit’s most prominent feature is the representative cosplayers who come to Japan after going through preliminary contests in various parts of the world. Last year’s event was limited to 12 countries due to entry restrictions to Japan, but this year they have scheduled participants from 33 countries and regions as of March 28th, 2023.

“World Cosplay Championship,” where representative cosplayers from 33 countries and regions around the world gather
The World Cosplay Championship is a competition where cosplayers showcase their performance to determine the world’s number one cosplayer.
Teams that have won the official qualifying tournaments held by the WCS partner organizers in each country and region gather at the finals in Nagoya as representatives of their respective countries and regions.

In addition to the World Cosplay Championship, this event will feature various event contents such as cosplay photography sessions, social events, live performances on the Oasis 21 particular stage, and general participation programs such as cosplay runways and performances.
What is The World Cosplay Summit?
The World Cosplay Summit is the world’s largest cosplay event, which began in 2003. It brings together “cosplayers,” who love Japanese pop cultures such as anime, manga, and games, to create a new international and cultural exchange.
Every year, over 200,000 people visit, and cosplayers from around the world gather in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, to deepen their relationships. It is also a unique event that receives support from local municipalities, government agencies, and overseas embassies. As the years go by, the number of participating countries and regions increases. In 2019, 40 countries and regions participated, making it a cosplay event that is attracting attention from all over the world.
